About Us
Janet
Hagan, owner/broker of The Buyer’s Voice in Real Estate,
was professionally educated as a neonatal intensive care nurse and served
in the rank of Captain
in the United States Army. Janet changed careers in the 1980s and became
a licensed real estate Broker in both Maine and New Hampshire.
Active in the real estate community, Janet has served on the Board of Directors
of the National Association of Exclusive Agents (NAEBA); President of the NH
Association of Exclusive Buyer Agents; and Board member of the York County,
Maine, Association of Realtors.
Professionally, Janet has been awarded many designations as a result of continued
higher education. The Certified Exclusive Buyer Agent (CEBA) designation, the
hallmark of achievement in the EBA field, is awarded only by the National Association
of Exclusive Buyer Agents to those candidates who have successfully completed
certain specific requirements that attest to their superior proficiency in
the representation of buyers of real estate. Out of 1,102,250 Realtors in the
United States, Janet was the 40th Realtor in the US to receive this designation.
The Certified Residential Specialist (CRS) is the highest Designation awarded
to sales associates in the residential sales field. The CRS Designation recognizes
professional accomplishments in both experience and education and CRS members
comprise just 4 percent of all REALTORS.
The Accredited Buyer Representative (ABR) designation is the benchmark of
excellence in buyer representation. This coveted designation is awarded by
the Real Estate BUYER'S AGENT Council (REBAC), an affiliate of the National
Association of REALTORS, to real estate practitioners who meet the specified
educational and practical experience criteria.
Ed
Hagan joined The Buyer’s Voice in Real Estate as a part-time Sales
Agent in April of 2000 and became a full-time Associate Broker in the summer
of 2004.
A 1968 graduate of the College of the Holy Cross, Ed was commissioned as an
officer in the United States Navy. He served onboard USS BRUMBY (FF-1044) and
USS REEVES (CG-24) in the Atlantic and Pacific Fleets, and completed a tour
of duty with the Naval Advisory Group in Vietnam in 1972. Before leaving for
Vietnam, Ed met Janet, a young Army Nurse, who became the love of his life.
They were married in June of 1972. After graduating from the Surface Warfare
Officer’s School in Newport Rhode Island, Ed completed an assignment
as Operations Department Head in USS SAMPLE (FF-1048) at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii.
Ed and Janet started their family in Hawaii with the birth of Brian in 1975
and Jennifer in 1977.
Ed left the Navy in 1975 and returned to school in Hawaii to earn a degree
in Chemistry. He then joined the Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory (KAPL) and
began a 26 year career with the company that designs the nuclear propulsion
plants for U.S. Navy submarines. Ed’s duties as a Field Engineer took
the Hagan family from Schenectady, New York to Waterford Connecticut, back
to Pearl Harbor, and ultimately to Maine. Ed managed KAPL’s Field Engineering
office at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard from 1985 to 2003. Before retiring
in June 2004, Ed spent his final year as a Senior Advisory Engineer assisting
other KAPL offices in Hawaii, Washington, Idaho and Connecticut.
Like Janet, Ed is a member of the National Association of Exclusive Buyer
Agents, and both the Maine and NH Association of REALTORS. Ed is actively pursuing
the Graduate Realtor Institute (GRI) designation.
Janet, Ed, and their two children have moved around the country every 2-3
years before settling in the beautiful Town of South Berwick, Maine. They knew
first hand of the stress of moving into a new community; finding a new home
on an all-too-brief house hunting trip, and getting their children enrolled
in school. These experiences guide them in their quest to provide excellence
in exclusive buyer representation for home buyers in Southern Maine and Seacoast
New Hampshire.
